Do you need some Delta Air Lines MQD and MQM for your SkyMiles Medallion status goals? Can you get to New York-Kennedy (JFK) airport? If you answered "yes" to both of those questions, then you might want to hurry and book this JFK to Quito (UIO) business class mileage run.

I say "hurry" because I found just three available dates for $911.81:

  • November 28
  • December 13
  • December 27

There are a few other dates when the price goes up slightly to around $1,065 or so. Head over to Google Flights, ITA Matrix, or your favorite flight search engine to check 'em out. (Or get in touch now with the point.me mileage run desk and ask them to book your trip.)

AeroMexico operates this trip, which flies JFK-Mexico City (MEX)-UIO-MEX-JFK. ITA Matrix estimates the itinerary will travel 8,074 miles. Because this is an AeroMexico "I" fare, you'll earn 40% of that distance as MQD when you credit the trip to your Delta SkyMiles number. HERE IS HOW AND WHY THAT HAPPENS.

You're projected to earn:

  • $3229.60 MQD (that's a return of 3.5X MQD for your ~$912 airfare!)
  • 12,036 MQM (7.6 CPMQM. Nothing stellar but certainly not terrible.)
  • 16,048 redeemable SkyMiles (before any applicable Medallion bonuses)

Now, here's the thing. You're going to have to "suffer" a bit for this low price.

You leave JFK at 1:40 AM on Monday morning (basically, late Sunday night). You get into MEX at 5:50 AM.

Then you have some serious airport appreciation time. Like, about 12 hours of it. (Perhaps a visit to the Mexico City American Express Centurion Lounge is in order if you hold The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. Or hang out in the AeroMexico lounges.) Maybe you want to get a room at the airport's Hyatt hotel and get some sleep. Your next flight isn't until 6:25 PM. You arrive in UIO at 12:15 AM — and then head back to MEX at 2:10 AM. You need to hustle through immigration to make your 7:15 AM flight back to JFK. But here's the good news: it's on a 787 Dreamliner and you'll have a lie-flat bed.

Book Soon

These deals have a tendency to disappear not long after we blog them. Why?

  • The airline hikes the price ASAP, or
  • Readers snatch up the available inventory, or
  • Both of the above

"Seriously, Dude. This Run Stinks."

Some people might look and this go, "This sucks! 12 hours in Mexico City there and 95 minutes on the way back to catch an international connecting flight?! Are you nuts?!"

Eh, to each his or her own.

But if you want something tailored to your schedule, wants, needs, preferences, desires, and assorted other necessities, my friends in the mileage run department at point.me (formerly Juicy Miles) would love to help you. Don't tell them I said this — but they're mileage run nerds who love a good challenge. And they're very good at what they do.

We trust point.me to take care of our readers.
