A trip to St. Lucia this December seemed like the perfect getaway. She booked the trip with her partner in May. "This time we decided to upgrade the resort; after being locked in the house for so long we decided to treat ourselves," she said. Martin and her partner had a Sunwing voucher worth $4,130 from a previous travel package. They applied the credit to a winter holiday worth $4,650. Marilyn M. Sipes, 93, of rural Galion in Morrow County went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2024 at Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living in Galion, Ohio. She was born November 5, 1930 to the late Henry Ward and Viola M. (Marshall) Rinehart in North Bloomfield Twp., Morrow County where she lived her whole life until her move in October of 2023 to Magnolia Terrace. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and married her high school sweetheart, Ivan W. Sipes, on June 12, 1949 at Ebenezer Methodist Church in Morrow County. They exemplified a Godly marriage for over 63 years until Ivan's death on September 22, 2012. Together they lovingly raised their family of two daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling, especially to visit their family in distant places. A New Brunswick father and son say they are out more than $7,000 for a trip they were never able to take due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the airline is refusing to provide a refund for a vacation that it cancelled. Michael Doucette of Miramichi, N.B. says when he booked a tropical vacation to the Dominican Republic in February 2020 with WestJet Vacations for him and his father, Roger Doucette, who lives in Moncton, it was meant to be for stress relief.
